A whole dried tagua seed is hand-carved to achieve this gorgeous heart shape. It is then polished and dyed. This tagua heart hangs from a silk ribbon, and two acai seeds are placed through it, one to hold the heart and the other one in the back to make it adjustable. The ribbon is approximately 14" at full-length seed to seed and adjustable to whatever shorter length you prefer.
This tagua pendant is sustainable, organic, vegan, and biodegradable: 100% vegetable ivory (Tagua seeds).
When ripe, tagua seeds are harvested and dried for 6 to 9 months. After losing all their moisture, they become rock solid resembling ivory in color, texture, and hardness, hence their nickname: “Vegetable Ivory.” At this point, the hard seeds can be polished, dyed, cut, and shaped into beautiful beads that become Florama’s natural jewelry.
This tagua necklace is fair trade and ethically handmade in Colombia. Muichic Natural Jewelry is a proud member of the Fair Trade Federation.
